New National Consumer Council report on "Greening Supermarkets"

This week (20th September) the National Consumer Council published a report assessing the environmental performance of the UK’s major supermarket groups.

The report uses a rating system similar to the energy efficiency rating scheme for electrical appliances. Waitrose came out top in the survey with an overall rating of B. The lowest rated performers were Morrisons and Somerfield, who both achieved an ‘E’ rating.

An expanded story on this survey can be seen at www.resource-efficiency.org

The full report can be downloaded from www.ncc.org.uk/responsibleconsumption/greening-supermarkets.pdf
